ARKADY BABCHENKO – born in 1977, Moscow. A writer and a journalist. In 1995 was drafted into the Armed Forced of Russian Federation. Saw his duty in Mozdok, Northern Caucasus. In 1997 he got demobilized. He resumed his university studies, got his bachelor’s degree in the imternational law. Then in 1999 subscribed and went to the Second Chechen War. Later worked as a war-correspondent in “Moscovsky Komsomoletz” and then as a correspondent of the “Forgotten Regiment” program (NTV, TV6, TVS). He is a special correspondent of “Novaya Gazeta”. His main theme now is “Lawlessness in Militia”. He participated in the South-Ossetia events as a war-correspondent. His main books are “Alkhan-Jurt”, “A Field Novel”, “Ten parts on Chechnya”. His stories were published in 22 languages (“One soldier’s war in Chechnya”). He is a copublisher of the “Art of War” magazine – the war-veterans’ writings.
